The Battle of Longewala (Dec 4–7, 1971) was a legendary engagement where ~120 Indian soldiers of 23 Punjab, led by Major Kuldip Singh Chandpuri, defended their post in the Thar Desert against 2,000–3,000 Pakistani troops and 40+ tanks. Using superior tactics and air support, they destroyed/captured over 30 enemy tanks with only two Indian casualties.
